I am being very cautious not to focus too much on this whole wheat free life I’m now leading, mostly because I am aware of how much people love wheat – I should know, I used to adore it! However, when I find snacks which are gluten-free and super tasty, well I have to share. Let me introduce you to: The Protein Ball Co.
The Protein Ball Co are the original bite sized protein snack brand, protein balls are becoming increasingly popular and husband and wife team Matt and Hayley Hunt have tapped into that and created something simply divine.
Based in Worthing, West Sussex, they hand roll their all-natural, gluten free and GMO free high protein snacks.
They have 8 different flavours in their range, and I was lucky enough to try them all!
- Peanut Butter (Best seller, Whey Protein)
- Coconut + Macadamia (Whey Protein)
- Cacao + Orange (Whey Protein)
- Peanut Butter + Jam (Vegan Protein)
- Raspberry Brownie (Vegan Protein)
- Lemon + Pistachio (Vegan Protein)
- Goji + Coconut (Vegan Protein)
- Cherry Bakewell (Egg White Protein)
I won’t go into detail here about the ins and outs of everything single flavour, mostly because that would be a very boring and long winded blog post.
However, I will highlight a few flavours which I loved. Starting with the Cacao + Orange. These balls were coated in a cacao powder, something I’m personally not a huge fan of. However, they did have a great flavour to them and avoided tasting like they were made with protein powder.
The Lemon + Pistachio flavour was quite unique, the pistachos didn’t seem to come through much, but the lemon gave a delicious citrus edge. This option, you could taste the protein powder a bit more, but that could be due to it being vegan protein – something I haven’t had before.
Overall, these were quite tasty, I was very happy with the portion sizes, you get 6 balls in a bag, while they may not be the largest they are ideal for a side snack at lunch or mid-morning pick me up.
These are available to buy in Ocado, Morrisons, amazon.co.uk and Holland and Barret.
