I’ve known about Levi Roots since his appearance on Dragons Den many years ago and love his table sauces. When I received some of his new snack pots I was very sceptical to try them.
I became very familiar with pots like these as a student. Everyone in my halls of residence lived on them religiously and I never saw the appeal.
Like the other lunch pot snack varieties on the market, the literal adding of boiling water to powder wasn’t exactly hard to follow.
I tried the four flavours in the range:
- Reggae Reggae Noodles
- Levi’s Curry Noodles
- Caribbean Coconut Rice
- Rasta Pasta
I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of flavour that has been put into the pots and it by far stands out from other competitors. It packs that great Caribbean punch and that is probably the best thing about it all.
The pasta was standard pasta and as long as you leave it long enough will cook like any other. The same applied to the noodles, they weren’t anything amazing, but once they’d softened with the hot water they cooked up to make a filling lunch.
The coconut rice packed a powerful flavour punch, while there didn’t seem to be much in the pot, it did still fill me up which was ideal given it had been a busy morning. The water took a while to mix in but once it had I was left with a creamy spicy rice lunch.
I wouldn’t have these pots every day though. Not that I would have any sort of pot lunch five days a week, but they are great for the convenience when you forget to make your lunch for work the night before or are in a rush with meetings all day.
Without a doubt, these are the best snack pot that I’ve had.
